The holidays are a time for family, for giving, and for helping others in need. In the true spirit of the holidays, we open our hearts and lend our time and compassion to the ones who need it most.
For us at Business Workspaces, this means our annual Toys for Tots campaign. Having seen and experienced the joy that our contributions bring to these local families, we look forward to helping this worthy cause and consider it an honor to be of service in this way.
Every year, our front office becomes a Toys for Tots Toy Drop Site. We invite all of our neighbors and friends to participate, and our tenants always step up spectacularly with donations from their own families and colleagues.
About Toys for Tots
Toys for Tots is run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Every year, they distribute toys to children whose families cannot afford to purchase gifts for them at Christmas time. Since 1947, this program has been delivering a message of hope to children across the United States and beyond, inviting them to share in the magic of the holidays.
The organization runs their program in about 800 communities in all 50 states, including Puerto Rico, DC, and the Virgin Islands. Last year alone, they distributed 18 million toys to seven million children.
In addition, Toys for Tots partners with UPS to raise money for their Literacy Program. Through these contributions of cash and books, they were able to distribute 1.6 million books to children and schools who could not otherwise afford them.
This year, like every other, we join in this noble crusade and invite you to participate as well.
Building Strong Communities
Charitable giving at the holidays feels good, but even when the season is over, the benefits are felt all across our community.
When we uplift our neighbors, we are investing in change. To deliver hope in challenging times sends a message that there is a future beyond one’s circumstances. Sometimes, just a small gesture can change the course of a life, and it is upon a foundation of these acts of kindness that a community grows and thrives.
We encourage all of our small business tenants to participate in our cause, but perhaps there is something else that is close to your heart. Even if you do not think you have the money to spare, you could instead donate your time, your services, or your voice to a cause that you care about. Spend time with a senior, or volunteer at a shelter. Foster a pet or gift your services to a charitable organization that could benefit from your expertise.
Our local community is full of opportunities to make a difference. Sometimes, all you have to do is be there.
