Introduce yourself.
My Name is Natane Rogers-Engle. I am the VP of Operations for SR Diversified, LLC. We are a General Engineering Contractor with licenses in CA, NV, and AZ. We are proud to be fully woman-owned and are certified as woman-owned through the CPUC.
How did you get started in your field?
I started in my field roughly 23 years ago. I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life (not one who felt they had some “calling”) when the head of the engineering department at Diablo Valley College in Concord recommended, I take some of his Construction Process classes. That’s where my love of construction began. After that, I took woodworking, engineering classes, and construction management classes. I found an internship with a company that built light rail and railroad (my first project out of school was here in Sacramento, the Green Line down Richards Blvd.) and I completed my construction management degree at CSUS. I don’t know that I would have ever found a career I love so much without that one suggestion and encouragement from Mr. Valdez. Being a woman, the construction field isn’t something you necessarily ever think of as a career path, especially 23 years ago.
Other than work, what else are you passionate about?
I am passionate about my family, horses and horseback riding, and Search and Rescue. I have an amazing husband, four beautiful children, a quarter horse named Foster, and have been working as a volunteer for Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue for 11 years now. I am a part of the Mountain Rescue group and a Flight Rescue Technician on the sheriff’s helicopter.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself running SR Diversified and continuing to grow the business. I would like to double our size by then and obtain new lines of business. I will be living in the same house with my loving family and thankful for every day as I am now!
What advice do you have for others interested in your field of work?
Listen to everyone and learn from them. You can easily learn what to do and what not to do just by listening and absorbing. Think through everything someone tells you when they have finished their story. Be curious and ask questions. Have empathy for others and take responsibility for your actions and the actions of those you lead. Work hard, very hard, and don’t complain!
What are some daily habits that you do to be more successful?
Find enjoyment in something every day. I try to focus on the positive and learn from the negative.
What is something unique about yourself that most people don’t know?
I was a high school rodeo queen. I used to rope and barrel race.
Where is your favorite place to vacation and why?
My favorite place to vacation is South Lake Tahoe. I have a ton of good memories from vacations there with my family and am continuing to do the same for my children.

The company was already housed at Business Workspaces when I joined. The staff here has been amazing, always helpful, and taken care of our needs as a business.
