This holiday season, El Dorado Hills’ Business Workspaces is once again stepping up to support the community through partnerships with Toys for Tots and the El Dorado County Food Bank. With over eight years of involvement, Business Workspaces continues its commitment to providing holiday cheer and essentials to those in need.
Spreading Joy with Toys for Tots
From October 21 through December 10, Business Workspaces will be collecting new, unwrapped toys on behalf of the Marine Toys for Tots Program. Toys for Tots has a clear mission: to collect and distribute toys to economically disadvantaged children during the holiday season. By participating in the program, Business Workspaces and the local community have the chance to bring happiness to children who may otherwise go without gifts.
The Toys for Tots Program was founded by the U.S. Marine Corps and later supported through the establishment of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, a not-for-profit organization recognized under IRS 501(c)(3) status. Since 1991, the Foundation has overseen the program, allowing it to grow and reach millions of children each year. Today, local businesses, schools, and communities all over the country contribute to making the holiday season brighter for children by providing toys that send a message of hope.
The guidelines for toy donations are simple yet important. Toys must be new and unwrapped, with a recommended value of around $10 or more. Unfortunately, used toys, toys that look like realistic weapons, or those containing candy, food, or chemicals cannot be accepted. For those who prefer to give monetarily, Toys for Tots also welcomes cash donations. All toy and monetary contributions go directly toward creating a joyful Christmas for local children who may otherwise miss out on this experience.
Supporting the El Dorado County Food Bank
In addition to supporting Toys for Tots, Business Workspaces is hosting a food drive benefiting the El Dorado County Food Bank. Beginning mid-October and running through Thanksgiving, this food drive addresses the community’s ongoing need for nutritious food options. The Food Bank plays a vital role in the area by coordinating with agencies to provide emergency food assistance to at-risk populations.
Through its Emergency Food Assistance Network, the El Dorado County Food Bank distributes over $3 million worth of food annually, offering crucial support to families who struggle with food insecurity. Business Workspaces’ involvement in the food drive means that community members can help ensure local families have access to nourishing meals. Non-perishable food items, such as canned goods, dry pasta, and grains, are ideal donations. Every item collected will help build a safety net for families in need, allowing them to celebrate the season without the stress of food insecurity.
How You Can Contribute
Community members interested in participating can bring new, unwrapped toys to Business Workspaces, where collection boxes will be available near the front reception area. Similarly, non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the same location through Thanksgiving. The final day for toy donations is December 6, and collection boxes will be picked up between December 6 and December 10.
For anyone unable to donate in person, Toys for Tots also offers options for direct financial contributions, which help purchase toys and cover distribution costs. Additionally, families in need of holiday assistance can request toys directly from Toys for Tots by visiting their official website at Toys for Tots Request a Toy. Those interested in locating a local chapter of Toys for Tots for further involvement or to make additional donations can visit Toys for Tots Local Chapters.
Making a Difference This Holiday Season
The combined efforts of Business Workspaces, Toys for Tots, and the El Dorado County Food Bank demonstrate the power of community involvement. Every toy or food item donated directly impacts local families, sending a message of support and kindness during a season meant for joy and giving. By participating in these drives, community members not only help alleviate stress for those facing economic hardship but also contribute to a larger culture of compassion and generosity.
Join us at Business Workspaces in making a difference this holiday season. Together, we can bring joy to children and provide essential support to families. Visit Business Workspaces from now until December 10 to drop off your donations, and let’s work together to make this holiday season brighter for everyone.
